FLORIS – 1980, TWO FLOWER EXHIBITION PAVILIONS<\/strong>

Being approached by the Haifa Municipality to design and construct the International Flower Exhibition pavilions within the time span of four months (design, structural analysis, production and construction on site) on a specific location site at the foot of the Carmel Mountain, a design approach was suggested to consist of hexahyparic membranes stretched-supported on a steel skeletal structure.
\nTwo pavilions were designed and constructed, of 1250sqm and of 550 sqm, both, although of completely different macro shapes, utilized the same basic modular orthogonal hexahyparic geometry.
\nDue to its highly periodic-modular nature, a high degree of industrialization was achieved of its cutting patterning, production and erection; within the specified time limit..
\nThe membrane structure – a polyester reinforced P.V.C fabric, attached to steel tube structure members, provided a very pleasant interior environment and very inspiring exterior appearance. The Pavilions were visited, within the space of two weeks, by more than 250.000 people.<\/p>\n
